I know you can waterproof fabric (canvas at least), with wax - so I wonder if spraying the cover with waxoyl would work?

Is waxoyl lanolin based then?

I suggested it because people on here are more likely to have a tin of waxoyl in the shed than a flock of sheep.

Just looking on eBay, lanolin looks a bit pricey, but no doubt good. Fabsil seems to be on offer at a more appealing price.

If you do go the sprayed dust cover route make sure it's compatible with you car paint.

Nope. It is, however, one of natures best waterproofers.
