Shower Going Cold

Hi Guys,
Shower is a Mia Vie 9.5k about 2 years old.

So the shower works fine for the first 10 minutes then it goes cold for a second or 2 and get hot again, it then stays hot for a few minutes then goes cold again and keeps repeating the cycle every few minutes but stays colder longer each time.

Any idea whats causing it?

either low water pressure maybe or thermal; cut-out on top of tank weak possibly check all conections for loose wires if its electronic god knows ring mira up and ask them . u can also check the shower head for limescale and that its clean

low water flow? Google the shower doctor, he’s pretty good

Seen the exact same problem on a fancy all singing all dancing electronic shower, the guy who owned it knew a bit about electronics and fixed it, was apparently a dry joint on the electronics which he dabbed with a soldering iron.

I had a problem with the Mira sport that fitted in the house I live in it was going cold and then warming up again I came to the conclusion that the water pressure was to high for it an fitted a ball type restrictor valve that could be adjusted in to the supply line and touch wood I have not had a problem since

The thermal cut out presses down onto a raised disc in the top copper part. If the temp get to high for what ever reason then the copper disc passes the temp to the thermal cut out. Be careful if you remove the cover as some of the wires will have power on them unless you pull the fuse/trip at the fuse box.

Ive just had exactly the same problem with a Mira go shower. It was an easy fix, bought a thermal cut out from eBay, think it cost about £15. Fitted it and problem solved.

I have had to replace this make and same model of shower twice with the same problem. The cutout is as brightspark says and is not resettableand so does not cause this defect. The first one I changed was a simple shower off and replacement on as I bought the same model. When it went after six or so years I again bought the same model, just before xmas, but in 2015 they had a redesign and upgrade and although it was called the same it was completely different inside, in particular the water connection. Was not happy as our bathroom has only the shower and is fully tiled with no feeds showing at all, but got there eventually. My lads showers cutout went and it could/would not reset. They tell you on the packaging not to touch the pad on it or it will trip and have to be replaced!

Don’t think Miras are built to last nowadays, i’ve replaced two Mira sports in the last year or so. Both had previously been repaired but didn’t last. Both had flow valves replaced and the last one stopped heating the water. It was cheaper for me to buy new Triton easy fit showers than buy the spares required. As said in the ads, they were very easy and quick for me to fit. Took longer than the twenty minutes they quoted but still quick

I took the case off and everything looks normal inside, no loose wire or anything. The mrs has found a place selling them at 50% off so she has just bought a new one, so hopefully i'll fit that and it will be sorted. Thanks for the replies all.

I replaced the heater tank in mine before Christmas. Not cheap but as I have a pumped Mira the replacement cost is astronomical!
