From personal experience grinding should be outside but when it means constantly taking a piece in and out it ends up inside. Plan for that in my opinion, dust extraction etc.

We can only try, I think we will set up a grinding bench outside and see how it goes
Mines pretty much as that interestingly shaped bench in the piccie posted above - but with a less interesting top. Angle leg down in each corner,flat plat on the bottom, bolted to the floor - no adjustment, just shimmed as required. 3mm top, with a good few supports across, folded to create a 6" upstand at the back. Couple of simply fabricated steel drawers running on plain steel slides, with another folded 3mm base sat on upturned angle running between the legs a few inches from the floor - with a back, sides, and central divider. Vice bolted to one end.
When I put it in the original garage where I am now, it pulled the concrete floor up to meet it when I tried bolting it down

A dewalt 18v orbital sander and i saved a CB from going in a bin, not tested it yet but it had been kept indoors so fingers crossed not had a listen on 27megs for a long time.

Back when I was a teenager, my Dad and I built a general purpose metal work bench 30" X 60" with a steel top. On three sides we welded 2" angle iron as a V- trough along the table edge. The screw pads on the legs were then adjusted slightly higher at the front to allow any fluids to drain back to the trough and down through a small pipe into a bucket. It served me well for any restorations and shop related projects, and it was only a couple of years ago I gave it to a friend. The bench would have taken up too much space in the shipping container I sent here, but I plan to build another just like it when my new garage is finished.

I have two. Both the same height on wheels. One has a grid of 16mm holes so I can clamp things down. The other is half done as the holes get annoying if you’re doing small things.
they are tab and slot so you don’t need such a thick top or strong legs but they are solid as hell. I have them on wheels so they can be bolted together if needed. With that and a couple of stands made from acros I can do most things.
I want to build a down draft grinding table. Seen a few online and they look quite effective and don’t need to be massive.

It's not mine, but the bench in this video looks pretty good and is something I'm thinking of doing once I get my garage sorted.
The euro boxes used for draws in this aren't cheap if you're buying lots but they are pretty sturdy and versitile.

Oh, and mine are 2’x4’. I’ve had massive benches before. They suffer from flat surface syndrome and on an 8x4 bench you end up with about 1x2 useable space in the end!! The two I have now which I mention above are much easier to keep bare.
I’ve put bits under as needed to hang clamps etc on but you’re better just making it and working that out when you use it as whatever you put on at the design stage will always be in the wrong place.

I just kept mine simple and heavy duty.
I love it. Can't believe I worked for so long on the ground.
Easy to keep things dead straight if I clamp to table.
I will probably add more too it but its good for now. Even cutting lengths of stuff I slide them up the box at the end to hold them.
I would have preferred a lip on the table so a smaller clamp would work but needed it out till the edge to keep top dead flat. I thought 1/2" top was overkill but so glad I did. Unbelievable what you start beating and clamping to it and bending etc.

I have laid out the bench top in the mancave to have the tools and associated oddsnsods to go with the tools in drawers underneath, if I am messing with urlektrics the leccy tools, crimps and other bits will all be in the same sort of area.
