A bit of advice needed, I've just got a wedge type AXA quick change tool post for my Chester db10 lathe. It's not a straight forward fit.
So my choices are to modify or replace the existing stud and bore out the bottom of the post, or do away with the compound slide and make up a solid riser block of Aprox 50mm. Apparently this improves rigidity. I have already done the 4 bolt baseplate mod to the compound.
I don't use the compound much, and I thread mostly with dies as it's easier than messing about with change gears!
So should I lose the compound or not? I suppose I can refit if needed for a taper.
