SIP Migmate Turbo 130.

This is for sale locally for £50. I would like to learn how to weld to do repairs on a classic car (0.8mm mild steel). If i understand correctly, i need a low ampage for working with thin metal.

Advice appreciated.

For £50, as it's local and (hopefully) you can test it then I'd say yes.
Small SIP machines don't have the best reputation but at that price, with a torch service kit and the feed roller brace mod it should do you ok.

Has anyone posted on how to do the mods on a SIP Migmate?

This one's a bit crude but that's all it is, just a tie between the top and bottom rollers to keep them parallel to each other.
The torch service is just a new steel liner, contact tip and shroud, I don't think SIPs have a swan-neck spring liner but I'm not 100% certain. Parts are available here but best to email or private message weldequip to check what you need for that machine.

Cheers for that! Just found out the £50 SIP is sold, now back to drawing board.

Will be using welder mostly for thin metal car repairs, from what iv read a low ampage of 25amps is what i should be going for, so can you guys point me in the right direction.

25 is great but 30 amps is fine, most small welders start at that. Anything higher and it makes it more likely you'll burn holes.
