Shop Vac - looking for one

Bought one from screwfix today, looked good, plenty of suck, good price.

Useless tools/hose let it down, its a 1-1/2" hose but where it joins the connector for the canister it gets reduced to 1" - anything bigger than dust blocks it instantly so you spend more time unblocking than cleaning.

I want this for picking up metal chips and muck so really needs a 2" or 3" hose inlet, or a clear 1-1/2" might be ok if no restrictions. I got a useless dusty concrete floor so cant use a broom on it.

Anyone know a good but affordable shop vac?

Buy a numatic hose and mount as spare parts, they fit with just 4 screws through the plastic casing. Cut the hole bigger and re-drill the 4 little holes and you'll never have that problem again.

Numatic 206117 is the threaded neck then choose any 51mm hose to go on it. THey do seem to be quite expensive though, might be cheaper buying a used one off ebay and robbing the parts. The blue ones are almost always 110V though I got lucky with a 240V one a few years ago. I see one in Huntingdon looks in nice nick for £120 and a red one in Weybridge for a paltry £15 right now.

I guess it depends on what you call affordable. If you just want something you can abuse but don't need to suck up water then get a Henry or one of the Numatic machines. Costco sell the bags in boxes of 100 way cheaper than anywhere else. They run for ever and you can buy every single bit for them. We have a Henry in the house and I also have a George for wet stuff. I have an old Edward that my Dad gave me that when it spins down it sound like a tube train coming into the station but it works perfectly.

all sorted, got the hose mount and a full toolkit, total was £20 so pretty good going.

Hopefully that will sort it out, it was just the hose that let it down so fingers crossed.

Once upon a time it was painted but that lifted, it really wants stripping and doing right but as the shop's in use daily, i can't really pull everything out to do it. When we moved in it was just a double garage so two cars and a small bench, now its got a CNC plasma cutter, CNC mill, small lathe, welding bench, powder coat bench/oven plus pillar drill, saw etc in it and running a small home business.

To get a good seal would mean removing whats left of the paint, thats where it gets slow/messy.

I had a problem with this, painted the floor three times until I bit the bullet and ground a couple of mm off the surface with a 9" grinder. Since then it's been solid and the paint has stuck really well.

I have the same issue.

I can find many sources for hose & tools but not the hose mount. Can you give me a link please?
