Shipping a transformer welder?

Hi,

I’ve just sold a transformer arc welder. The buyer is asking if I can pack and post which I’m happy to do if he pays for the postage.

It is a Cebora Monowelder, but I’m not sure how best to send it. It weighs about 30kg total, and most couriers like Parcelforce accept 30kg max. Obviously don’t want to send it only for it boomerang for being a couple hundred grams over or whatever. How best would you send it?

I had a PowCon shipped to me, using UPS. Their UK parcel weight limit is 70kg.

Id do it in a box on a small pallet. Dont accept responsibility for damage, risk needs to sit with buyer. So get him the courier info and him to book it, you just package it up properly.

And take photos of the finished package before you send it - as it may look a little different by the time it arrives...

Safer on a standard sized pallet. If it's a uk shipment even a quarter is still 120x100. It's the height and weight that makes it a quarter. Bigger the pallet the better the protection.

What is the value of it ?
What will pallet shipping cost ?


I thought you wanted to ship something like a Miller 330AB tig unit......

Yes we have parcel services that could take that. Would need to be in a well padded box. The test is - can you drop it from a desk onto the floor? If not the packing isn't good enough!
If making a small crate put rope handles through the sides - so much easier to move and less likely to be dropped.
