Shell recharge app and OTP

Now here's a silly situation. Shell recharge app. Setting up a payment method requires either a bank app confirmation or an OTP. If I go to the banking app the Shell app drops out of the verification process. If I use OTP and open up the SMS, then again the Shell app drops out. The only way to wing it is if I just swipe down enough to see the text contents. That works for me. Sadly for my partner, who is stuck needing a recharge, her Samsung phone doesn't seem to have that option..
Questions arise
Is there a way on android phones to keep two apps open at the same time?
OTP autofil might be worth a try, I've seen a YouTube for that, but does it work on apps or just on the main browser.....
Or maybe I can just use the app on my phone to pay the charge point at a distance?

Is the Shell app a browser-based app, or a standalone app that doesn't run in a browser window? If the Google Play store was needed to set up the Shell recharge app, then it's likely that it's a standalone app. If you needed to enter a web address in the browser, or use a QR code, then it might be a browser-based app.

If it's standalone, the soft button to the left of the Home Screen button brings up the apps that are open and allows you to switch between apps (as well as close them or close all). It shouldn't lose your running app data in the process.

For browser-based apps, it depends on the browser in use, but it's necessary to be able to select tabs for open webpages/web-based apps. For the Samsung web browser, for example, most web pages, when they're scrolled up, result in a small box being diplayed at the bottom of the screen, showing how many tabs are open. Tapping on this box allows selection of open web pages. Using the Chrome browser, the tabs box is at top right of screen, next to the menu bar. It may be necessary to open a new tab for each new webpage/app that is opened, if this is not done automatically by the browser.

Split mode should be available if her Samsung is up to date, swipe up from the bottom, hold press the app icon at the top middle of the shrunken app, then select the second app from the menu,
