sharp shock, blown fuse.

last week washed down my ride-on mower with the pressure washer, no problems as usual,when laying it past i unplugged it and started to coil up the cable, i touched the plug pins whilst doing so and got a rite smack off of them,thot nowt of it ,laid everything past. took it out yesterday to find it had stopped working ,yes it had blown the fuse, Question is what caused this and why did the fuse go?

Sounds faulty.

Start Capacitor across the motor?

you got a shock from the 3pin plug?

capacitors in the pressure washer must have held a charge

blown fuse is a little odd... I wouldn't think there's any way you could get enough of a shock to blow a fuse (I'm guessing 13amp?)

unless... maybe your wet finger/hand toughed the positive and negative at the same time... so the capacitors shorted out through you... but more to each other through your hand then into and down to the ground?

The shock was probably a charge left in a suppressor unit. However there shouldn't be enough charge to blow a 13A? fuse, and if it did blow a 13A fuse via your body you'd be dead.

its not the first time its done this ,but has never blown the fuse before.

I suspect the two things are a coincidence. If the fuse blew before you got the shock, you wouldn't have got the shock. I suspect it blew when you switched it on afterwards.

as above post .. have you renewed the fuse and used it since . a lot of machines have suppressors in them that give you a quick light shock if you get your fingers across the pins pulling plug out nothing to worry about there

The shock isn't owt to worry about. I did that myself no end of times with a vac I modified, due to not fitting a bleed resistor.
