Hi ppl, i need to weld my some damper brackets (to take front shocks) onto my lambretta forks. Now I am told its best to take the forks off which is a job intself, however, I might have a go in situ with all the internal rubber gubbings out. Either way being a novice to my new Clarke 135te I am unsure on the best way to do this from both a settings view point (i know i need to practice this), and a positioning point.
this what it should look like, should i tack either side, use a small clamp -??

The brackets are about 3mm and i would say the forks are slightly less. I am using

i know practice is the key here but i have nothing of a similar thickness. I have mig welded this thickness but it was with a professional kit which i was trained on for a mere 2 hrs doing fillet and butt welds etc.
any advice appreciated
(mods pls note i have posted by mistake also in which welder under the Clarke part, pls can you delete that post as it was a mistake, cant seem to be able to - thanks)
