Setting up the Kende MAG 150R

Hi I have just bought the Kende MAG 150r and I'm confused as it has different connections for gas and no gas. I'm assuming you need to switch around the earth connections but there is a separate torch picture as well.

The instruction do not explain any of this, so very confused and help would be appreciated.

Was just expecting a torch and a earth connection :-(

for gas welding you want the torch on + and earth on - for no gas its reversed

The lead in the bottom left, that has a male dinse plug on i gather?
That one needs to go in which ever one you are using, gas or no gas.

The earth cable itself, (with the clamp) goes in the other one.



All the lines and things are there to make it look more technical than it is. Being a hobby type machine, i guess they try to keep it simple. I doubt many know which way it should be if it just had a + and a -.

That's an unusual way of doing it. Most machines have a + & - out of the rectifier, so you have to swap the wires to both the torch and the earth.

I don't see how they can do it by swapping one lead unless you have a pair of half wave rectifiers.

The left hand cable does indeed have the dinse plug on it.

That's an unusual way of doing it. Most machines have a + & - out of the rectifier, so you have to swap the wires to both the torch and the earth.

I don't see how they can do it by swapping one lead unless you have a pair of half wave rectifiers.

It looks like the torch goes in on the upper right and comes out lower left with a dinse plug on so you make the connections externally.

Mines like that, except the fly lead thing comes out from the euro connector.

You have probably got to grips with this by now? but I have the same model and its pretty straight forward ie

No Gas = the neg lead on the mig plugs into the far right socket and earth clamp into the empty socket.

Gas = the reverse of the above ie switch em over.

Only just got round to trying mine out but need some gas to get me up and running.
If you have attempted some welds? how are you doing with it?
