Setting the blades on a guillotine

Hi

Does anyone know what the gap between the blades should be on a guillotine setup to cut 6mm steel plate ?

I remember the boss increasing the gap on the guillotine years ago when we wanted to the machine to cut thicker sheets so it would shear properly without jamming as we normally kept it fairly tight as we usually cut thin sheet.

Material thickness x 0.1, or put it another way 10% of the material thickness.
so for 6mm plate 0.6mm

Yeah, about 10% of the thickness. If your struggling for power, a tiny bit more, but if your okay for power but want less burr, close it up slightly.

If its used to cut thin sheet aswell and you dont have a blade gap adjuster, it might pay to close it up slightly.
