Server Power Supply

I’ve got a Sony APS 172 power supply from a Cisco switch unit. It’s been supplied all working.

Does anyone know which pins to shirt out to give me 12v out? Want to make a bench top supply

I had an IBM supply that I found instruction for to modify. It was useful so my brother took it !!!!

From the description it looks like a 1K ohm resistor between the 3rd pin in the second row and the 2nd pin in the 4 row. With the top left pin being pin 1 row 1

no experience with that particular supply, but lots with others...

those pairs of pins each side of the small center pins those are the main power out, as the pus slides into an enclosure they make contact around bars in the enclosure

just check them with a meter - there's a good chance one side will be all -ve and one side all +ve

if you take the cover off you should be able to tell what's going on - you'll be able to see which pins are joined internally

if you break the plastic along the bottom just below the pins, you can push a thick is wire between pairs of connectors and solder them in :-)
