Separate power for motor on hobby migs

Just thinking could this work as as a stand alone power supply for the wire feed motors on some hobby MIGs?? Some how get the AC input down for the input and hook the output straight to the motor?

Thete are mods for the sip welders on the forum with separate supplies for the wire feed

It just entered my head as I'm building a variable power supply. I know you can just hook up a PSU. But would this not be cleaner? Ya just desolder the board pot and fit a remote one. That board was just a quick look on eBay I'd imagine there would be better boards that can output higher amps. Nice 12v CPU fan over it to keep cool ?? I'd imagine the 12v motors in the Clarke sip etc wouldn't be that high amps either ?

LTC3780 between the PSU and motor, sorry I didn't literally mean just hook it up and go. Again just a thought if it could be done this way.

Ya I would hope that would smooth it out if taken from the weld current output thanks for the feed back.

Could be better, but honestly overkill unless you really need the upscale conversion (I detest the term 'buck and boost ').

An American term is it not ??
