Hello all,
After a long time away from the forum I thought Id post a few pics up of the project I foolishly embarked on over 2 years ago, I know its strictly not all welding but I thought it might of some interest.
Work has been carried out on the entire project by me and a mate, and that's about it except for the sparks.
We are really on the final push and whilst plastering's being done I'm currently putting in drains, and the treatment plant, then its UFH and screed then just final fix.

When we striped back the asbestos roof (originally pan tiles in the 1850s), we found it to be in much more of a state than we first thought, the original trusses had rotted at the ends no longer allowing the tie rods to do there job the net result was the rear wall had rocked over nearly 3" on 7' so we plated the remaining trusses and welded them into the ties which allowed us to pull them back to there original shape, then one by one each rafter had to be reset, none of this was aided by the Victorian cockup which meant the trusses were sat incorrectly on the wall plate. we also had to embark on pulling all the poorly matched 1950s brick work out, putting a block wall in and facing with the original stocks, being built on old English every second course had to be cut to give a "header" and "stretcher" look.

Gabble wall also had to be removed as there was no footing, It was thought the building was originally butted into a lean too type structure.

Floor was then pulled out to show the original Victorian Stable floor of blocks complete with drains.

We could then start putting back, lintels, floor plates and stair skeletons.

Followed by new trusses which we used to tie to the 2 gables.

I then embarked on FB and laying over 10,000 Spanish slates, after that entrance was jacked, beam put inside on 2 SHS posts ready for the new doors.

once that was done it was just the small matter of patching the brickwork sourcing gutters to suit the building and putting in the new doors and windows.

Not forgetting that every joint had to be raked out and repointed with Hydraulic lime.

Then on with the inside new over site was poured over a stupidly over expensive gas mat and membrane for theoretical risk of methane gas.

Followed by masses of insulation 70mm of cellotex on the walls and floor and 250mm in the roof space, followed by rock wall in any other void.

PB all 320 sheets was finished a fortnight ago along with 1st fix plumbing and electric 3 weeks to completed plaster.

stairs once plastered can be finished.
As I mentioned we a fair bit to do to finish but March should be realistic and compared to the masses of work that has already gone in it the home straight seams less daunting, especially as in week 2 of the project Mrs C was diagnosed with cancer, But with a long haul of chemo, operations and Radiotherapy the looking behind us the consultant told us to enjoy 2018 as the results were positive enough for him not wanting to see her for 6 months..... So were hoping this house will be part of a new future.
Garden to follow errm sometime.
