You should find that a section of the HDD has been partitioned and the repair files are all hidden in there. If it crashes you can then access that, push a button and it will rebuild the OS.

You are of course quite right ,and i have used Acer recovery on many occasions .....i have come across 2 incidents where the image is corrupted and can no longer be accessed ,on 1 occassion it was a computer being used for nhs patients ,the image was corrupted and back up discs were not made....Acer made them pay £50 for copies......so i made my backups straight away before any problems....because its a rip off.....

odd.... all my acers have had disks & I dont recall ever asking for them specifically, still at least you have them

The i5 appears swift enough for me ....noticeable difference in opening adobe/pdf...etc haven't had a chance to fully test it yet ,build quality is down on my old acer,and is not finished as well,but it is built to a budget with a faster processor than most at the same price .......hopefully the balance is ok for my uses .......again many thanks for all the posts ,i looked at reviews and tryed to check all the makes mentioned but selected on processor/memory as i'm happey to use external storage and never play games

tho to be fair they usually do tell you to make backups as soon as you turn the thing on...., cant really blaim them if you are too lazy or too stupid to do the basics

The laptop didn't prompt for a back up....I realised from previous experience ,it was best to do early on,,,,i think it was also mentioned in a review.........i'm not sure if other manufacturers are the same though....i think its a poor show not to include discs written or blanks for recovery disc's....and os discs.....i remember getting 98se,etc on disc.....the copy of xp i have on old laptop will die with the laptop as i only have image discs

thats why they dont supply full disks... cheaper OEM licences too... OEM install is tied to the machine it is supplied on (theoretically, and it seems effectively of late) and not transterable.
