I suppose after barging in on a couple of topics and not saying Hi!, is a bit rude, so I'll put things right now.
I joined the forum months ago, but couldn't log on as I lost the details I used to register. Finally by accident I got in.
Anyway, I'm in engineering, mostly offshore these days, but started out in aviation on leaving school when the only options were office work, dirty work or pregnancy.
But I never did any welding, apart from some pigeon poo at college. Anyway, on a trip to the Philippines earlier this year I sort of nicked me father in laws bike that was lying in a sorry state, and decided to fix it.
It turned out to be a bag of nails. The engine was shot (but that's a bit more up my street) and the frame rusted through at the rear shock mounts. It needed welding.
