Seam welding mild sheet steel 1.2mm

hi is it possible to seam weld thin 1.2 sheet metal as i see a post saying its better to tack weld loads of tacks intill it builds up a kinda seam weld, it said if you do seam weld the heat will blow holes through as its to thin, ill be plate welding if this help and it maybe be 1.5mm as its a land rover body so could be thicker just havent mesured yet

You can run continuous seams without blowing through, if your welder can go low enough, but the heat will distort the metal. the thin metal technique (loads of tacks) keeps the heat to a minimum and reduces distortion, and the chances of blowing holes.

the link says over a 1mm sheet metal is perfect for seam welding so shorly if u tack plate in place with few tacks then seam it wouldnt distort ??

Err, the thin metal can distort up and down over its whole surface as well. Ripples. These look bad on your panel work...
