sealing round a chimney

Hi

I am new to all this game. How do you seal round a chimney? On workshop roof. I no their is lead flashing. It has currently got cement round it.

Is there not a kind of tar type tape. Sticky stuff.? I am seriously learning on the job slating and stuff.

What's my best plan?

Should have taken picture.it's got a square chimney and a pot on top. It's not just a straight pipe.

What type of chimney and roof?

I've only ever fitted two and I fitted a storm collar with silicon to seal it just above the flexible flashing. That's for a stainless chimney through a tin roof. This is a link to what I used:. http://www.greymetal.co.uk/twin-wal...-wall-chimney-flashings-collars-sealants.html

It's an old out house 1900s with slate roof and has original chimneys

Spot on. That stuff with the adhesive is what I was thinking of.
