Sealey spray gun for primer/top coat

Hi lads,

That is it i am diving in the paint word a bit more. I have a very small touch up to do a wing. But I decide instead of using spray can I will run and try out my compressor and spray gun setup.

So I need to get the gun, I was thinking sealy S701G will do the job.

It comes on standard with 1.4 set up, but I read that 1.7 and 2.0 are also available.

Do you think it could be good to have a different set up for the primer?

I have another job coming way bigger than the wing so I need to gear up a bit seriously.

I was actually even thinking about getting 2 gun one for primer and one for top coat, I don't really fancy taking the gun apart when I am in the middle of the job.

If you are going to do loads of priming and painting putting thick layers of primer filler on then a 1.7 or 2.0 would make sense but if you are touching in on your car you will get away with the 1.4 for both. Consider getting a touch up gun for the top coat if it is only a small repair, I bought the mini jet from ebay with a 0.8 tip and it is a joy to use for touch ups and blowing in for the small amount I do and is cheap as chips.

thanks for the link, I saw that it is HVLP ? what is the difference with convention gun I have only a small compressor about 14CFM only.

I use a 2.0 for primer, your 14cfm comp will power a HVLP gun ok.

Then it will be 2 sealey with different set-up, and a mini gun fo rthe small touch up on that wing, and future one.

At least as the gun are cheap if one day I am unlucky and one of them stop working during a job I will get myself sorted quickly enough.
