Sealey S0816 150amp...Any reviews

Hi and welcome to the forum.
They don't have the best reputation on here but to be honest, if £200 is your budget for a new machine then you could do a whole lot worse and get a rubbish Chinese box off of Ebay with little or no warranty.
What sort of stuff are you looking to weld with it?

All it will be used for is to build a locost chassis and vehicle repairs.
Should'nt need anything over 150, i did'nt realise this was actually a Siegen. Are they owned by Sealey or something?

Siegen is Sealey's budget brand. 150 amps is fine for what you want.

So can anybody give feedback on one of these welders?
For £200 seems very cheap, or is it worth spending 50% more on a Clarke 151 or 160tm.
Can you realy tell a difference with the weld quality or is it just machine quality your paying for?

Have used Sealey 150 Pro model in the past, not quite the same as this one. only went down to about 35 amp so a bit difficult to learn to use on car bodywork. But we still managed it.
Okay higher up the scale, generally welded fine, duty cycle not brill at the top end, but they are not made to weld 4-5 mm all day, any more than a hobby Clarke is.
Only problems we had was with wire feed playing up now and then. May have been due to different users abusing the m/c. Had to change the wire feed mechanism twice in three years, not very strong. But this was in a car workshop, almost daily use.
