hi, my old sealey 180/1 is pulsing its wire feed, not stopping and starting, just slowing down and speeding up, it takes about 1 to 2 seconds to do one pulse, all other functions are normal. it had a new speed controller about a year ago that's to say about 10kg,s of 0.6 wire ago, but only just started misbehaving yesterday, any thoughts gratefully received, fred.

Try unflipping/lifting off the wire feed pressure roller so it is NOT feeding wire and is under no load. If when you press the trigger then it is still doing it, it may be the gearbox of the motor or the brushes. Some on here have had success when they take the gear box apart and clean out the old grease (which has become dry) and re greased with fresh. If you can get at the brushes it's worth giving them a check for ware and blowing out the brush holder as the dust can make them stick. If you have a meter you could meter across the motor terminals to see if the voltages is fluctuating and thus causing the up and down of the speed.
