Sealant applied in the wet.

I remember buying a sealant from a builders merchant that could be applied under water and was strong enough to hold a house brick.

I have a polycarbonate roof that has developed a few leaks where it's screwed to the cross beams.
It's only a lean to but I need it dry underneath. But can only see where the leaks are in the wet.

Any suggestions.

Yep, the urethanes actually like wet surfaces; the water assists the chemical reaction they follow.

Makes sense, it would be difficult to spot a leak in the dry.

To me, CT1 is the WD40 of the sealant world. A top-end price to support its marketing campaign.

The 'works underwater' ones are known (by Screwfix at least) as 'hybrid sealants' so searching around that term would give a rounded view of what is available. Their chemistry is a cross between standard silicone and a grab adhesive.

Other options are Screwfix' own brand X8, another called OB1 (something to do with the force), Everbuild EB25 and Everbuild Stixall.

But in the real world, it actually works

Tried the Ob1 stuff, got a couple of tubes from the rep, very meh

Ever build stuff is average and always has been

Also in the real world, wd40 is actually useful, maybe not as penetrating fluid but I will be using it today as I cut a hole in a copper cylinder, a job several "plumbers" have refused to do, hence me leaving my comfy chair to do it myself

Mark the places that water is getting through with something e.g. insulating tape, or draw a diagram of the roof and annotate it with the leak locations.

Remove the screws and fit Tek type screws with rubber washers bonded to the flange, commonly used in sheet metal roofing and cladding and designed for a 30 year life cycle, many brands available at cheap prices.

The stuff I used was supposed to be the right gear to not leak. But I see a few are a bit proud and look wet I am guessing these might be the ones. Leaking.

Stixall is amazing stuff. Black, White or Clear. Sticks under water, sets to a firm rubbery state. I#ve used it for all sorts of things. First got it to stick a rubber threshold strip under my roller shutter door. I've even mended a wheel barrow inner tube with it !

as long as its solid it wont melt anything .its the same stuff as all the other gear that folk have posted just under there own names
