SDS Clic nut for fitting blade to angle grinder.

Has anyone used one of these SDS clic nuts for fitting the blade to the 9" Makita angle grinder?

In the tool-station cat, there is one bundled with a pair of bosch stone cutting blades.

Are these click nuts any good or a waste of time?

I use them on a couple of my 4:1/2" grinders all the time, you never need a pin spanner again, even if / when the spindle lock breaks, the only slight disadvantage is with thin cutting discs, when they wear right down its easy to catch the material with the knurling on the clicnut

I use quick release nuts cant remember whos though, on nearly all my grinders they have some form of clutch in them to save the disc biting as your grinding they have a kind of over centre clip that clamps down, to lock the nut, they work very well on 5" and 90% time I can undo the 9" thin discs by gripping the disc, without the need of a spanner. they do have holes to match the makita spanner if you are struggling. Well worth the £8.00 I think i paid. These are they

I have one on my cordless Makita 4.5 inch grinder for work. works well. haven't needed a spanner since buying the nut

I have had one for years on a 9" Makita, absolutely brilliant. The only time it let me down was when some numpty tightened it with a spanner, then it was very challenging to release.

Personally I dont see the point in them, whenever changing discs I switch the power off at the wall, press in the spindle lock and then grab the edge of the disk to slacken or tighten. Never had a problem, a disc has never came off etc. Just have to make sure the power is switched off.... just in case!

this is the reason I got one for the 18v Makita.

it is a lot more cost effective to use every little last shred of disc. I used to grab the disc to remove them but that doesn't work now I am running a business and trying to save as much cost as possible.

fed up of losing those bloody spanners too. even made one that was held on chain riveted to my tool bag...still managed to lose it.

the click nut solves this problem

Definitely don't put them on upsde-down! Not only are they a bitch to remove but they can explode as a couple of our guys have found out.

Other than that - yup, great - I have them on my grinders.

My Metabo came with one and it's dead handy but I have to replace it with a standard fitting to use a flexible backing pad now and then but it's no problem.
