Sd card to iphone

i have a dvr that I use to record my shooting activities from my night vision scopes that uses full size sd cards.

I am looking for a way to get the footage from the card to either my iPhone or my Mrs iPad as my laptop is toast and I have no other method of recovering the data at the moment.

It hasn't been a problem so far As I usually just show the footage to the land owner then delete it, but someone has asked me to send them footage from my newly modified scope to show the clarity and magnification I have achieved so I want to put some demo footage on YouTube for them

Any ideas. It's an iPhones 5c or Ann iPad mini 2 if that makes any difference

Just get a Usb card reader if neither the iphone or ipad has a SDcard slot.

EDIT:

Just realised I should have not have suggested a Usb reader as your laptop is dead, you can get card readers that plug in iphones but they are usually silly money.

Do you not know anyone whose computer you can use to get the footage off the card ?

I have seen some one playing a video on one phone screen while recording with the camera of another phone, results weren't very good

Yep, I have one very similar to that and a Sandisk 64Gb thumb drive, as well as being a conventional USB drive it also has a lightning connector and they both work fine.

I've have used mine to transfer stuff too and from both, of course as you know Apple can and do stop things working with updates.

So I thought I'd better check and right now on 10.1.1 both devices still work on the Ipad.

The card reader is a few years old and seems not to work on my iphone 5 so I may need to mess about to get it to work.

Just bear in mind that my post above is misleading - SD card to Ipad is fine, you cant get stuff off the ipad onto SD card.

The Sandisk USB x-drive thing works both ways ..

It's only the one way I want...the card Ian the only full size one I have and is dedicated to my dvr so will only ever be taking from the card to the iPad.

Can you watch .avi files on an iPad?

I used to use VLC on the ipad and it plays pretty much anything, I _think_ my dash cam does avi.. not sure now I think.. I'll try it and let you know later

I just tried an avi in safari and my preferred Mercury and it plays in both of them
