Hi guys
I have just ran a 3 day workshop in sculpture making at a school, fantastic fun, once I got over being surrounded by kids.
It left me with a germ of an idea.
I often get queries/pm's about how to 'do' sculpture in metal. I spent most of the last 20+years in a teaching/training environment, so I am used to passing on skills etc.
So, would anybody be interested in a one or two day workshop on metal sculpture? I would figure on having a collection of materials available, a list being published before the workshop begins so participants can get the basic design work out of the way, or make that part of the workshop. I can supply all of the tools needed, though if people were to bring their own welders no problems there, it helped me to use my own last week, saving a load of messing around learning settings etc.
I would be looking at both design and techniques such as use of a Mig welder as more than just a 'constructional tool' ie I use it as a decorative medium, I have worked out ways of blending in constructional welds so they become a feature of the work rather than just 'glue'.
This is a very tentative proposal at present, and would be refined before going into action, insurance would be provided.
I dont have accomodation for overnight stays, but I do have access to a camp site in a mates cider orchard so the planning and discussion could become a nocturnal affair.
This would be a paid for affair, my guess being around £50.00 per head per day, maximum group size around 5.
So before I go into serious planning mode what do you guys think?
Cheers all, Chunko'.
