Screwfix Roughneck log splitting kit on offer.

Purchased one of these kits last night and tried it today. The wood grenade is a thing of beauty and works brilliantly and for £28 the kit is well worth the outlay.

The grenades are great bits of kit, havent had a log beat me yet whilst using one. Watch the mauls, I have two and both heads fell off whilst using them. Welded metal shafts in and they have been fine since.

Grenade is good, well made and takes a pounding.

Axe, Bah humbug. Head so soft it bent went splitting hickory logs. No bigger than 75mm.

My Maul was good, I ******** the handle up. But I retro fitted it to a smaller shaft and I use a hammer to beat it into difficult knurling grain logs. To date no issues.

Worth the £££.

I have two of those wood grenades thing is I can not remember how or why I acquired two of them.

I have a fibreglass handled maul, I posted about it a few years ago. I broke a chunk out of the cutting edge on some tough stuff so I straightened it off and reprofiled it with the angle grinder. It works a lot better now than it ever did. That and a couple of ordinary wedges cope with anything I come across.
