Screwdrivers?

I could do with a new set of screwdrivers - they dont have to be insulated , they dont have to be massive or really tiny. Just a general selection of average sizes will do nicely. Snap On prices are out of the question, but something nice to treat myself for Christmas.

Any suggestions?

wera are about the best. the longest i can get out of screwdrivers phillips and pozi at work is a year and they wear out ive used snapon and they last no longer all the modern screws are hardened and wear the drivers out fast £16 for a set of 6 or i use the wera diamond tip bits in elec screwdriver

While Snap-on drivers are expensive, they are warranted for life. I've bought a few from car boots etc, that were broken, had my mate hand them in and a week later they come back with a new shaft in them

that is verry true
ive done the same but take one in thats just worn on the tip and they wont replace because its fair wear and tear same as the sockets only if they break. the moral of story is if its worn brake it in the vice and they will replace it

Mmmm! I like the look of those, and the price is very attractive too. I'm surprised that they can offer a lifetime guarantee for less than a tenner!

At that price I may well get some more tools for myself for Christmas!

Never heard of Wera before, but there are some good deals on FleaBay at the moment. May take a punt on a set of those!

wera are a very good brand but not cheap. i have the set below and a lot cheaper and Made in Germany

I like Facom screwdrivers,got insulated and engineers ,engneers have hex shafts, allowing the use of spanners etc

I have a set of Facom Ergotwist. Nice to use, comfortable handles, and the tips are shotblasted so they grip just a bit better in the head of the fastener.

yea i have a bit of teng stuff and its at the top with the likes of Mac and Snap On for quality infact i prefere to use the teng 3/8 sockets and ratchet instead of my Mac stuff..Teng screwdivers for me too

I don't think the halfords ones are that great, and i bet the guarantee doesn't cover the normal wear and tear on the tips.

I've always liked the stanley cabinet screwdrivers, dunno if you still get them though

No one covers wear and tear......excessive wear i would expect to be covered but drivers have limited life...... in full time ...ie used regularly, not once a month...use 3-6 months i would say was about it

hardened heads being the real issue
