Screen recording software.

To go along with the post on video editing software I thought I would ask about screen recording software.

I used to use Camtasia and loved it but I purchased for the company I was setting up/ working with.
So it stayed on their PC when I got kicked out.
Anyway I have checked it out again and it's stupidly expensive as it seems aimed at you tubers recording for their channels.
What decent free/cheap screen recording software is about as I have a couple of guys who are happy to record the process of their cam software setting tool paths and processors etc etc.
@erasma was kind enough to show us his camel back being set up in fusion but I am struggling to follow the video as I do with Lars videos on fusion.
Its very easy to assume the viewer knows the terminology they are using but sadly if you don't know it or can't grasp it it's a big struggle.

So I am looking for even more basic instructions that I can follow or perhaps easier CAM software. I don't really know yet.

Anyway with a few lads helping and if I can actually record what I am doing it might assist to know what I am doing wrong/missing/ can't follow etc.

Blueberry software Flashback express - free and is quite feature packed - you can record individual windows, monitors etc and highlight your mouse, record keystrokes etc

You can save as proprietary format (.fbr) or mpeg etc to share more easily with other users.

I meant to say as long as your using windows / they don’t do a Mac version but you can record natively on a Mac anyway

Are some quite good freeware ones but free versions can limit the recording but paid full version no restrictions. Not sure if VLC offer a free recorder, know they do good free media player. The Chinese when not.... coughing.... do some good stuff at affordable prices, Google Wondershare, should provide you to links for correct product.

The free version of flashback is pretty unobtrusive and isn’t time limited - you get some banners on start up which you don’t get with the paid for version and you miss out on some fancy editing stuff but for a basic screen recorder I’ve never needed anything else. I think it’s British too...

I am not averse to paying if its reasonable priced. 39 quid seems OK. I would pay that for camtasia as I used it a lot a few years back. I will look at OBS though first.

VLC player has the option built in, it is a bit fiddly, but works and is free.
