Screeded my floor

We'll that was fun.
I wanted to get rid of my understairs cavern sized cupboard.
Looked under the carpet and the floor is slightly out of level. 60mm across 800mm. So level the floor first. Almost 200kg if screed and it's now level so I can get on with plan A.

To the point. This won't be tiled for ages; do I need to seal it? If so what would I use? I'm guessing some sort of PVA.

It will wear away pretty quickly if you don't do something. I'd use self leveling compound on that as it's fairly hard wearing. I've use the Secrete high performance compound and it's been very good. I've stuck solid oak flooring to it in my extension with no problems.

Just sealing it with PVA / Unibond / SBR won't work if you're walking on it, been there done that...

Don't use PVA. If you tile it later it'll re-wet when you come to tile it. I'd seal with SBR to keep the dust down and repeat periodically if need be.

Laitance is the thing to watch out for. Pre tiling it will likely need mechanically removing and vacuuming up before tile primer.

Stick the plastic black floor protecting board over it in the meantime. The type builders put down over carpet and laminate.

You need it clean as possible when you tile it. A screeded floor filled with dust/oils/everyday soiling will need acid etch or mechanically abrading to get anything to stick reliably down the line.

Correx, Antinox etc and some heavy duty duct tape to secure. Not a bad shout. Only problem is it might sweat.

Id use a coat of SBR, then another coat when your ready to tile.
