Missed that bit but heard the commentators mention it. Never seen fighting between players before a match, wonder what kicked that off

Spotlight appears to be in Owen Farrell, though I take what I read in the papers with a larger punch of salt than I put on my porridge.

Been a season ticket holder for a good few years now and that was the best ever game at Murrayfield. Both teams chucked the kitchen sinks at each other and the crowd was awesome. Awesome day and fantastic to see Scotland win and win by playing running rugby backed up with brutal defence.

Apparently the ref can only send people off once the game has started so anything that happens beforehand he is powerless to do anything (was on bbc commentary so I’m not sure how true that is
)

It's not rugby behaviour so unfortunate but a bit of push and shove doesn't get you sent off either though. A talking to about representing your country and being professional is probably all that is needed.
For a laugh go watch the James Haskel youtube videos with Farrel, good laugh and Farrel doesn't have much of a sense of humour.

No, I appreciate it wasn’t a given that anyone should be sent off (I didn’t see the incident) , more that the ref was powerless to do anything until the whistle went.

I thought referees have the power to cancel a game before it starts if they think there is too much needle (He'd have to be a brave bloke to do it though the crowd would lynch him)

Respect to both teams. That was a fantastic game and all 46 players put their bodies on the line and put on one hell of a game.

We just got in first and defended with total commitment, England tried hard to come back, they put some great phases of play together and didn’t get the luck.

We wouldn't want to peak too soon.
Cracking match though and a well deserved win.
The ref had a poor game in my opinion as he only seemed to penalise England when they were scrapping for the ball and even did not penalise and send off the Scottish No 8 when he eye gouged the English No 8 in a off the ball incident. Mind you England were poor and went back to the bad old days of giving possession away with persistent kicking into the arms of the rampant Scots. Fair play to the Scots who were more up for it and although they got slaughtered in their first match they showed intent on playing the fast game and stuck with it and got the just result yesterday.

Your first from either camp I have seen moaning about the ref. I personally dont like him but he was fair yesterday

What a bummer, I was offered a couple of tickets but turned them down saying we would get the normal kicking from England, just got some Stela in and watched it on the tele, what a mistake!

As long as it isn't raining win or lose it's a great day out. We got beat by Wales once, was freezing cold and raining and sitting waiting in the rain for the tram while the Welsh were gloating was miserable, hence Welsh and Kiwis are my least favourite rugby fans.

You know yesterday wasn't a good day for me ;-)
I had to sit and watch Wales get beaten, then turn over to watch England beaten .... by Scotland... so it doesn't get worse for me.... :-)
I was pretty sure which way the England / Scotland game would go after about fifteen minutes but both were good games well fought, credit to the victors and I thought referee was fair in both.
