Scissor lift

Hi folks,can ayone suggest a small portable scissor lift.Let me explain.My neighbour has a severly disabled daughter and she uses an electric wheelchair,not the scooter type. It is a Harrier HD and weighs in at about 76Kgs. He needs to lift it into a Vauxhall Zifara (23 inch from ground to floor).He uses ramps at present but due to his age he is finding it hard going.He need to be able to lift it into the vehicle with ease.The wheelbase of the chair is around 2 feet By 3 Feet.Any help please.

A scissor-lift will only help load/unload at base, what about when they reach destination?

Tail lift conversions are available for some vehicles, maybe a word with VX will confirm availability for his car.

Also, local Health Board Grant Aid might be payable with purchase/installation costs.

The problem he is retired and because he gets a works pension they do not qualify for a grant.He has had several estimates for a tail lift and the cheapest was £2396.00.He has seen one in Aluminium at a show two years ago but cannot remember who was selling or manufacturers.

could the ramp be adapted with an electric ram system, this would be cheaper and easier to deal with.
Or even a trolley jack to lift the ramp, and there are many sub £100 2000lb electric winches that power in and out.
Just a couple of other ideas, that may (or may not) be usefull.

Unless youre an automative engineer, I think it would be best to buy a car with the accessibility options fitted, Purely because you dont know the long term wear effects on various components within the car.

Modifying the car also has insurance implications.

That said, a neighbour of mine fitted some device to his small Fiat to lift his father in and out. I'll try to buttonhole him and find out what he did.

Simpler solution - Rig up an electric winch.

Still use the ramp, but winch it into the vehicle
