Saw some nice machine tools today

I bought a pair of toolmakers blocks of ebay and had a look at some of the machine tools the owner has. He has terminal cancer, so his son showed me round:

First Fritz Verner Mill I have seen, looks beautifully made, vertical and Horizontal too:

A very nice Smart & Brown 1024 VSL:

And an Elliot Progress No 4:

I thought a few on here would appreciate them as much as me.

Aye, the son will be putting them on ebay, he advertised the Fritz Werner then realised the lathe would need to be moved before he can get it it out and to move the lathe he will need to cut the wall out the shed!

Aye, he has 2 large dividing heads. Too big for my wee Centec.

They look OTT, but with full on coolant they’re actually handy. I’ve never found them to get in the way too much anyway

Given how crowded it looks in the shed he probably needed them to keep chips from the mill off everything else.
The man did have / has some nice kit and I bet all the time he was telling the wife what an investment they all were he would never have expected the value to sky rocket like it has of late. Still won't help him but might provide for the wife for a while.

They are really good. Mine is the Bharat Fritz Werner which is the later Indian copy but still really solid and very heavy.
