Sat nav specialist needed

Recently sold my Land Cruiser and now have a V6 3ltr VWTouareg, The Germans in there infinite wisdom have chosen to fit a lovely combined unit, That does sat nav/radio/cd-dvd/bluetooth phone, UNFORTUNATELY they are only programmed to accept the first 5 digits of the postcode,VW dealer had my car today for a recall on the exhaust temp sensor, I got them to try and give me the full UK postcode mod (Which is possible)But they could not do it, Does anybody know where I could possibly get this done,I have spoken to Sat nav systems and they can do it, but they are in the London area, I am hoping to find somewhere a lot closer,

Is it Columbus? If so your VAG dealer can up load the latest firmware and latest maps. this gives full postcode input. I had this done to my Yeti by my dealer at no cost. You can buy the CD with all this on, but, it is around £300 from what I hear.

Thank you for the reply Chris, As mentioned in my post the VW main dealers spent a couple of hours trying to Get the full 7 digit postcode system working, They have installed the latest firmware and maps but could not get it to operate, the sat nav unit is the RNS 510 with a touch screen.
Sat nav systems in london say they can do it if I take or send the unit to them and the total cost will be £90-00.

Hi,

I have been looking and there does seem to be a problem with the Columbus when updating the firmware and mapping to the latest versions. The thing is that there does not seem to be one definite cause. I can remember 2 posts on the Skoda forum about this particular problem, but I can't find them. One solution I can remember was that the Columbus unit drained the battery in the car over the time it took to load the data without the engine running. I know I have seen this problem before and I'll keep an eye on it and give you a shout if I find it again. Sorry can't be more help.

Hi,

OK, seems that there are quite a few issues with Columbus as fitted to VW, It is possible that you have the EU version of the Columbus which will only work on 5 digit postcodes. I have seen mention of license problems in UK. Without access to a sub menu you won't be able to see version numbers. Hold setup button down for 15 to 30 seconds.
