Sand blasting pressure pots

Quick question, which might be a bit stupid but here goes. Those pressure pots that you add to your air compressor, that up the blasting power by 30% or so .... are the different sizes just relevant to how much media they hold?

They come in 5, 10, or 20 gallon sizes (or metric equivalent), but presumably the bigger pots don't add anything other than the capacity to blast for longer without refilling the sand/media ? I'm still trying to get my head round how they work exactly tbh and whether they are worth it. Obviously the cheap ones are £100 and smaller sized.

Refilling is a bit annoying so it's a decision based on price, space, how much you blast. The cylinders are worth it, much faster than suction guns.

Remember to Use fine or extra fine media as they're prone to clogging, moisture causes the media to clump in the metering valve.

Thanks. That's a good tip. I wasn't aware they clogged easily. Tempted by a smaller one just because it will be easier to store. I'm guessing the cheap ones are much of a muchness quality wise.

Like many Chinese products, the cylinders follow a standard design that the factories have copied off each other, so they tend to be the same. They work fine aside from the metering valve which isn't a real metering valve, but just a regular plumbing valve, so it needs constant adjusting. It's not too bad but a lot of people on this forum have upgraded theirs.
