S9+ pic download problem...?

Hi all.

I have been trying to download pics from my Samung S9+and i am now at a loss what to do.

Not up on Tech`y stuff but followed instructions off the net and still nothing is happening.

The phone is recognised on the lap top.

I plug the phone in with the USB cable and you get the noise tht it is connected but nothing else happens at all. The phone says `downloading files` though.

Its a new phone can throw it yet......i say yet.

Can anybody help out please what i should try.

Try unlocking the screen lock on the phone

Email them to your laptop if you can't do it any other way. Is it a windows computer, does the phone show up in the file explorer ? If it does look for the DCIM folder that's usually where they are. You can drag and drop them onto your desktop or make a folder for them.

As above make sure the phones unlocked.
Normally pops up in my computer as 2 drives. Memory card and phone memory.

I gave up with cables and bluetooth, just install dropbox on the phone and the pc, dead easy to use and quicker than a direct connection.

I found them in the DCIM on my laptop. I have a Drop box account but never really used it as it got in my nerves trying to work it out lol.

I didnt know you can Bluetooth them over lol.

I get frustrated to much with it all as i just cant get my head around it.

all good now. I have about 800 pics of my boat and cars and god knows how many from the holiday to get through now from the last so many months whats good and isnt.

Other thing you can do Wolly is back up photos to your google account, then sign in on any computer and see the pics from your phone. Thats how I get pics from my phone to upload to here.

Yeah it's great is Google. I have my phone and tablet synced for everything. It was good when I got a new phone as I didn't need to back up anything first. My calendar, contacts and bookmarks all moved across automatically.

When you connect your phone to the laptop you have the option on the Android device to connect for charging only or to transfer data as well.

I think you have to go into Developer Options to select the USB configuration - I do anyway, after having trouble [post-update a while back] and posting on the OnePlus forum for help.

Works very well, just takes a couple of extra steps.

I have an Samsung S8 but it should probably be similar, unlock your phone, plug the cable in and on the phone you should see a message pop up asking if the PC is allowed to access the phone. Click on yes, and you should see the phone in the Windows "file explorer", click on it and you should see two partitions, the phone's inbuilt memory and the second will be the SD card. Also make sure that you use the original USB cable supplied with the phone as not all USB cable are the same. Some only provide power and not Data, however all the USB type C should be the same. Hope this helps.
