Hi guys,
Been looking over the net all day trying to solve this little dilema...
I've recently purchased an 18v Drill, 18v Jigsaw and 18v Circular Saw from various places, all 2nd hand of course, problem I am currently running into though is that the charger that came with the Circular Saw doesn't work, and only seems to buzz then smell, so I've placed that to one side to be investigated with a bashing stick at some point. It also came with 3 batteries, none of which are the same as the other though.
The Drill and Jigsaw came with 3 batteries in total, 2 of which apparently don't hold charge and 1 possibly does. The charger also works, which is nice.
Now, I am currently looking at replacing the batteries for all of the tools, so at least I know the condition of them over the coming years.
Question is, which type to go for?
I'd prefer the "beefier" batteries, 3000mAh, that pack the extra punch.
However, there are Ni-CD, Ni-MH or Li-Ion.
I understand that to change from the Ni-CD batteries to either of the others would require new chargers too, which could be a possibility!
Are the Li-Ion really worth the investment? Bearing in mind these will be stored outside in the garage, where at the moment, temperatures are reaching -2 degC...
Li-Ion is still classed as a relatively new product and still in its early years, which puts me off a little. Much like the MiniDisc introduction, that was mean't to take over from CD, then died a death...
Discuss and suggest please...
