Rusty mig wire

Well,I was trying to take advantage of a day away from work during the festivity period,even though it had snowed,but was not snowing at the time. It then started to snow,being none the wiser that the wire on the spool would rust So when I was attempting to weld the other day,it was a farce. Eventually,having sprinkled oil onto the spool,as things progressed,I had to pack up,as daylight was running out

Dont sprinkle oil on it, that'll give you more problems than the rust.

Id suggest thouroughly cleaning your wire feed rollers and liner now.
I find if you've got rust the easiest thing to do is just to unwind the top layer or two and chuck it away. The wire underneath is usually okay. If you dont weld for months at a time, take the wire off and keep it somewhere drier.

All sorted now,I've been welding away the gearbox tunnel,until the wire feed has stopped. Hopefully it's just the trigger in the gun

burning the oil will give off very noxious fumes and gases

The galvanised metal odour overcomes the wd40 smell...
