Running a radiator on it's end?

I want to lime plaster a bit of wall to hopefully help with damp but there is a radiator in the way. I don't want to remove it as it's the biggest radiator I have downstairs but it's on plastic pipes so I can move it around.

It's on the floor just now and in the way. Would it still work if I put it on it's end and leant it against the wall?

it will if its full of water pumped heating and bleed valve at the top end perferably the hot flow to the top and return at the bottom

just do what i so losen the valves or if your on push fits

lay some 3x2s up to the valves and then unhook it and spin it to lay it flat

losen the valves will allow some water out so rag time needed just retighten back up again when done do it in reverse

if you have packed enough across the rad you can actually walk on it and it wont bother it ( 3 points packing )

I think you’ve miss understood the question.

It’s already on the floor, he wants to lean it upright against a wall and get it out of the way?

I'd do it when it's warm (not hot) so the pipes are more flexible but check the fittings are good and solid before moving it.
Maybe tape the.long pipe to the rad.

If it’s a choice between no heat in a room or a potential flood plus heating system drain down … yes

As Mike says. I'd shut the valves off remove the rad and cap em off for the few days.

i hadnt noticed that bit

but was trying to say is just leave it down as you can stand on them or even put a ladder on them they will take the weight as ive done it often as long as that rad is well supported it will hold the weight

will probably be less efficient as the convection inside the radiator will be messed up so the flow may go straight through.
