god we are talking old just pull the cables through run tape round the cable at top of conduit and slightly pull it in . stop any chafingI can't find these things, don't know what to search for!
They are the rubber grommets that go on the oval "tin whistle" metal tube in many old houses.
Mine are a bit knackered and I want to replace them as I rewire the house.

Not old really BS the wood trunk with single VIR cotton covered is old 
cant remember if oval or lead covered came next 
can remember you could take the neutral fuse out on old lead, lights did not dim & the Iron running of the adapter from the light pendant still worked

There is still a bit of that in my roofspace and when I bought the place in '99 there was evidence it had fairly recently been in use.
