Rtech welding helmet or use local welding supplier?

Hi, I've just bought a second hand Rtech mig and I was going to buy their mid range helmet (about £100). I'm starting to wonder if I should go to somewhere local in the Manchester area and buy one from them though? I'm quite safety concerned regarding eye protection so thinking I might get better in person advice etc. Just thought I'd post here before anyone tried to sell me something in person or on the phone.

This is the place I've looked up... They do a days course too which might be useful although initially I thought I might just have a go.

Regarding other PPE I found some Dickies FR overhauls and waiting for a hood to turn up. I also have a respirator mask which I think has the correct filters, I'll have to check. It came with Gloves and they look ok but I may buy some more just in case.

Whilst I admire the purchasing local - you would probably be offered what they have in stock- which may or may not be the best option.

I'll have a look around the forum. I probably didnt mention it before but i'm completely new to welding so thats why I wasnt sure if to go with Rtech or something local where I might get a bit of advice.

They sell Par weld stuff (a name i've seen) and have a sale on the PARWELD XR937H . Everything else is out of my price range .

As a rule the more you spend on a helmet the better it will be .
The R Tech is a decent helmet well priced .

Whatever you get, make sure it has 4 sensors. There are few things more annoying than getting flashed when welding out of position with a 2 sensor mask.

I have an ESAB savage that I'm pretty pleased with for the price, but the £75 R-Tech mask has 4 sensors and 'true colour' too. It shares the same head gear as the £100 one, the more expensive one just has a bigger screen. The spec of the lower middle end of the market has come on a lot in 10 years!

I think last time I spoke to Rtech they said its just a bigger screen the more you go up the range. This one is what I was told to buy: mask 6

its about £100 and has 4 sensors plus a large screen to see through.

Looks like the Parweld one (locally from Basic Welding Manchester) is similar. Maybe a slightly bigger screen and 4 sensors . Only pro with this is I could pick it up tomorrow but I think its chucking it down for 2 days anyway lol
