Errrr yeah. Not quite sure on the title to be honest, but hey....
Looking at building two "gantry cranes" for personal use at home.
Unfortunately, for these, I'm actually going to have to purchase the steel as I've used up almost all of the stuff I've acquired over the years from previous jobs and projects.
Have two RSJ mountable chain blocks, capable of 1 ton loading, so would like to be able to lift the full capacity of these on the gantry cranes, so a bit of over specification wouldn't go a miss to be honest.
Looking at either;
152x89x16kg UB or
178x102x19kg UB
Now, to be honest the 152x89 would be better, as I'd lose less head room, but deflection is something I'll need to take in to account.
Would anyone be able to point me in the direction of Pointload calculations, or a table that contains this information?
