I'm working through the refresher/learning stage because it's been a long time and I've forgotten way more than I realised. So I figured back to basics and go from there which is mostly working out well but the RPM and cutting speed rabbit hole is deep and wide.
When you look at figures available on the internet they all seem to go deep into it without a pause. Does anyone know of a guide or chart which shows the starting point for basic materials (EN16, mild steel, brass, bronze, aluminium bar 20 - 50 mm dia) for chuck/workpiece RPM? Once I have that starting point I can calculate/adjust for any different alloys and large or small diameters.
I seem to be OK with the sound/appearance of cuts which aren't 'right'. It's odd the way some stuff sticks in the memory and other stuff falls into the 'use it or lose it' memory category.
