I heard from somewhere that if they don't find a body then there's no crime been committed

That doesn't work, there was the man who was prosecuted for killing his wife in Herefordshire I think it was, with no body. He said his wife had done a runner, he lost the case & was sentenced to life as I recall. This was about 8 years ago, he admitted he killed here only recently when his new girlfriend wanted him to take a lie detector test.

I've just been robbed, scammed, thieved..whatever it's called these days. Foolishly bought a pair of 'perfect headlights' from a guy on Gumtree...he said he had been posting for over a year and only dealt in headlights..had 17 other ads for lights so I sent £125 to his bank account...a week later and many phone calls one useless, broken, and cracked headlamp arrived. Since then he doesn't answer his phone any more. Not having his name or address (yes I know I'm a stupid git who believes people are honest) I tried to find out through gumtree..no chance..data protection...went to the police..sorry mate this is a civil matter so can't help you. The guy is still advertising the same lights for sale despite me reporting him to gumtree a few times....??

Get one of your mates to order a few headlights , cash on collection .
Meet up and arrange your refund/compensation , insert broken headlight .

There is a ready market further east... Spare parts are pretty expensive, even used ones. As said, very popular in microlights and the 912 series is the engine of choice in many, if not most, light fixed wing a/c. I did read that Rotax make more aircraft engines than any other company, including RR & GE

Tampering with aircraft should carry a very heavy sentence, aside of the engine thefts I wonder how many have been messed with and left running but in a dangerous condition.Does not bear thinking about .

Hi, Under CAA regs they would have to file a MOR (mandatory occurrence report) The CAA would then investigate and apply penalties where appropriate.

The aircraft would not be allowed to fly again until it been inspected, cleared and signed off by an engineer, which is why they are licenced because it's their neck on the line. They are licenced for different types (make and model) and areas ( airframe, engines, avionics etc) of the aircraft.

It's more than just the loss of the engine, it's getting it airworthy again.

makes for good emergency landings I had a couple of engine failures on my micro light all good fun specially as I hadn't had any lessons flying it and no flying licence I flew it for a year then sold it on

No prob, pull stick back, things on ground get smaller, push forward, they get bigger. The engine helps a bit, some say it controls height. Who needs training? Wright Bros managed OK.

I have had a couple of dead stick landings. One, in a Mooney M20, was quite interesting, as it quit just after take-off.
