Rotary angle encoder

does anyone have any experiance of these, Shox Dr perhaps ?

are they any good, are they accurate, robust etc
l have just built a tube bender and need some way of knowing what angle l am bending, was thinking of printing a great big protractor and mounting it on top with a pointer but this seems suitable ?? and a bit more hi tech

is it as simple as joining it to the shaft and it will read accurately, will need to join the pivot shaft to the die but that shouldent be to hard

Yup nice bit of kit. Makes repeating bends a doddle

Can't find it either. The bender is boxed up when not in use and is in the back of beyond at the mo.

I fitted it to the underside of the main pivot pin, fixing the encoder with a grub screw, to the pivot pin. The pin was also fixed to the moving arms of the bender so as the arms moved so did the encoder. If you are not in a hurry (2-3weeks) I can dig it out and take pics

dont worry about digging it out if its a pain, l am sure l will manage, bender is built just need to strip it and paint it and add encoder

I built a little tube bender for small jobs out of an old tyre machine, all I did was buy a crank timing wheel for a quid and bolted it on.

I've used both and for ease of use and repeatability, you can't beat Digital

While both are angle finders, they are very different. An encoder reads an axis while the one you linked to reads a plane

I have both, the second I use for using for plane of bend

Good find. Not sure how much the lack resetting level, would be though. How do they work? Any 'moving' parts

angle reading options

DR, Honestly dont know, mine has a Zero butten and then reads the angle.

That only zeroes the level, not relevels the level. The ones I have you can reset them: you hold it one way vertically and then the other, the gizmo must then half the difference and call it 0*

SO I guess it must have some moving part. No?
