Thanks guys, the tool maker who said it also said it is known as a puddle weld which google tells me is as you fine gents say.
It was a second hand piece of info relating to heat treating an aluminium bike frame after some modifications...google tells me it needs to be oven baked but this aviation tool maker says it wont need it and to use this rose welding...as always I’m confused
I thought a rose weld was a tig thing,
One tube inside another, the outer one has a hole drilled though the side and the edge of the hole is run round with the tig to hold the 2 tubes together.
Plug weld was much the same thing but the hole was filled with filler.
Might just be what the boys I know call it but if they asked for a rose weld you would reach for the tig. If they asked for a plug you would mig it
