hello all.
Does anyone have any experience with roller shutter doors? I bought a used rollwright commercial one off eBay which I have fitted to my workshop at home. I have been opening and closing it manually until I wired it in last week. It works fine but only goes up around 1/3 of the way and I have to wind it up manually the rest of the way. I assume they have a stop position so is there a way I can reset it so it opens all the way? If I wind it all the way up manually and go round a couple of times would this do the trick?
Any help greatly appreciated, I’ve been messing around with this garage for years and am now close to actually finishing it and having it useable as a workshop. I’ve always rented a unit until recently so havent had much incentive to do the work, but now I’m down to just a yard and I have a couple of projects I want to do it’s become a bit more urgent.

I've put a few up, there'll be some limit switches somewhere... but each type is different... post some picks of the roller and I might be able to help :-)

I dont know if its the same set up as mine but the limit switches are on cams inside the terminal cover

You need to set the door switches up. If your door has been turned over the top between removal and when fitted, then you need to disconnect the switch drive and re-set it, or turn it over the top as you say.
Older ones used a nut being moved along a thread to switch limit switches.

I've got a few, and I think 4 different limit switch setups, one like picture above (which is quite nice) then 3 different versions of switches inside the tube next to the motor, two of them you pop a little plastic cap off and move little switches/leavers into neutral position, put the shutter all the way up put the up switch back, all the way down and put the down switch bank... works well but did have an iffy one I had to bypass

then one pain the the **** one you have to strip half the thing down to get at the limit switches... guess it's an old system


if the shutter isn't going all the way up then it needs turning down extra not up... so you'd have to take the shutter all the way up and out of the guides, then roll the shutter down, flopping the shutter back up over the tube as it turned (so you keep rolling the shutter down without it unwinding off the tube

Check to see if there is a button type thing on one end that you can pull out.
There is at least one type out there that you tell to close fully, then, turn off the power, pull the pin out, drop the door all the way down. Push the pin back in and it should be good to go.

Thanks for all the replies, I haven’t had chance to have a look today but I’ll get out there tomorrow and get some pics and have a fiddle with it.
