Rollixo RTS garage door randomly opening

Anyone have any experience?

I am trying to fix one of these roller garage doors that just randomly opens itself usually during the night. Sometimes I think I have fixed it and then 10 days or so later it opens again

I have tried factory reset and then re-pairing the remotes and safety edge sensor

have previously tested without batteries in the remotes and the door still opened

They have 2 identical doors so I have changed the control units between the doors and the fault stays with the same physical door so the control units are ok

have just paired the remotes with the opposite doors if the same door still opens then I guess it has to be the safety edge transmitter but have run battery checks on this and normal operation only partially retracts the door when triggered

Any suggestions?

If it stays with the door, not the control unit, try swapping the edge transmitter and other gubbins. Could it be a wire chafing?

That is why I have now paired the remotes with the opposite doors to see if there might be an identical unit in the area. If this is the case the other door should start opening by itself

logically this should now be the one remaining thing that I can try although the safety edge normally only makes the door retract about a foot rather than opening fully

Our garage remote had the same freqency as our neighbours wireless doorbell lol

My gate remote is driving me nuts, you have to be stood next to the receiver to get the remote to work! I need to get someone in to sort it out. If anyone has any clues I would be grateful for suggestions.

I've had the same problem, the doors not used that often as it's the hot rod stored in there and is only taken out occasionally, but for some strange reson it would open it's self during the day, made a point of isolating it when not in use until i can find an answer, so watching this !

There is normally an option for an external aerial on the receiver board, stick some pictures up if you unsure

Are there any of the following on the premises or neighbour's place: weather station, remote reading thermometer, oil tank level sensor, smart meter, TV remote transmitters/extenders, remote central heating thermostat. Any of these could potentially interfere with the door remote receiver, if they happen to transmit on the same frequency. If there are several such devices, there is a slim chance that collisions between different transmissions might sum to produce code that is recognised as "door open" code. The requirements for the "door open" code may be less stringent than for "door close" for safety reasons. The wireless frequency used by the Rollixo RTS doors is actually in a military band that is also used for amateur radio. It seems crazy that Low Power Device use was ever allowed on this band.

Just another thought, I have been a Radio Ham for over 40 years now. A few years back Sat in my Car chatting to someone on UHF Freqs ( I wont give out the exact Freq ) While sitting there I noticed that the Locks on the Car at the side of me clunked open/closed.!! Strange I thought then doing a few tests just for curiosity when I pressed the Mike button to talk someone I noticed someone else in the car park could not lock his car. I could go on and say other things what can happen but I wont..... So just check there is not a Licenced Radio Ham close to you as you may need a filter to stop the RF. As I say just a thought. !

At the risk of getting a slap.... You have put a new battery in the remote haven't you

Also, Is there is any possibility of changing the settings either in the receiver or the remote to make it work on a different channel or code. Older garage doors used to have a set of dipswitches to set the simple code to make them unique, 16 possible settings = high security, lol

do away with your remotes and use a secured switch instead but you lot want remote control and there non secure risks

Will your remote work without the added aerial? If so then that may be enough for the receiver to ignore a weak interfering signal.

Progress! swapping the remotes between the two doors has moved the opening problem to the other door

Have now separated the two suspect remotes and paired one with each door so the next unexpected opening will identify which remote is being impersonated

Rather than buying another remote I have advised it will be slightly more secure if only one remote is paired to each garage door which also saves buying a replacement

No harm in buying replacements as spares, whilst you still can. They can and do get dropped, soaked, covered in god knows what, over time. They don't need to be programmed to the door until needed.

Update for those people with the same issue

The suspect remote was identified and 1 "good" remote paired with each door. It has now been a month and neither door has self opened so it looks like it was the specific remote after all

Good to know. I recently replaced a couple of garage remotes, after one had been through the wash in a trouser pocket, and the other showed signs of abuse. Both had buttons that had become unreliable, though they were not showing the spontaneous door opening of the OP. As a bonus, it's always good to have a stop button that works!!
