Roller Stuck

Hello, completely new to this so apologies if it’s something extremely simple. I’ve borrowed a Clarke mig151en which is quite old and hasn’t been used for some time. I’ve removed all blockages in the liner, however the top roller in the wire feed mechanism refuses to roll by itself, yet if I put some pressure on the top of it with my hand it feeds smoothly. The roller is pressed down as much as possible with the screw. Could it be that something in the mechanism needs changing, or is there an easy fix? Thanks

The upper roller is basically a ball bearing roller, it should rotate freely? Is it seized and does it require replacing?

Is the lower roller set correctly for the wire diameter? Is the wire new or is it an old reel that’s been in the welder for years? What do you mean by “removed all blockages”?

Mig 151en has been discontinued now, Give parts a call to see if parts are still available 0115 956 1805
it maybe worth replacing the liner AND torch liner rather than clearing any blockage. New tip and wire won't hurt either

Is the wire spool clamped down too far so it won't turn? There's usually a plastic handnut compressing a spring to provide some braking on the spool but you don't want too much.

I’ve placed a washer I had lying around under the spring on the tensioner and it works great now. For whatever reason there just wasn’t enough tension on the top roller thanks for the replies anyway
