roller shutter doors(garage)

i'm in the process of pouring the concrete for a garage base ,before we start the brickwork i want to purchase the roller shutter door so i know the opening size etc,my experince with these types of door are limited, opening /closing at work,.....has anyone on the forum fitted one?any makes to avoid?ok to buy second hand?any thoughts on materials?if i buy electric operated do they come with manual chains ,like industrial doors? any and all thoughts welcome ,garage is attached to house so appearance is important(to her),,,i want a roller door rather than up and over to keep head height over most of garage floor and so i can park right up to the doors outside ,,,,,many thanks gav

They keep cropping up on Ebay. A neighbour fitted one years ago and has had no trouble with it. It shouldn't be too difficult to fit an electric motor if you want to, they use a 12v wiper motor!

Manual ones are opened and closed by lifting/dropping the door with the handle fitted.

This crowd fitted mine www.pkshutters.co.uk it is 5mtrs high x 4.5mtrs wide three phase motor and emergancy manual operation fitted price £1150 ex vat.They came up from Birmingham took site sizes went back and arrived back a week later and fitted it in half a day the cheepest quote I got above them was £3000 probably worth a call.

many thanks for your replies ,i will get a quote from www.pkshutters.co.uk as well as looking in the usual places ,i would be intrested if anyone has had dealings with the insulated roller doors?,and has anyone experienced noise in windy conditions using roller shuutters? any makes to avoid ,thanks once again.G
